
Mehra Auditorium
The Mehra Auditorium in its initial form was constructed in 1968 at a cost of Rs 3.415 Lakh and was under the erstwhile Institute of Armament Technology (IAT). It was a common assembly hall for the conduct of central functions and lectures for a large audience primarily by outstation speakers. In the year 2012, MILIT was created and in line with the recommendation of the Salwan Committee, Mehra Auditorium was allotted to MILIT.
The configuration of the old structure of the auditorium was not befitting an Armed Forces Tri-Service establishment. It could not meet the intended purpose of the facility. The complete auditorium was, therefore takes up for a major renovation in the year 2017-18. Rs.234.425 Lakh was sanctioned by HQ IDS towards the renovation work. Complete internals of the decrepit hall were done up through the MES with modern civil works, including restoration of entire roofing structure of the building and laying of new seating along with installation of a centralised air-conditioning system with stand by power back up facility for the complex. The renovated auditorium boasts of an elegant set of state-of- the art Audio System with excellent acoustics and a smart Video Projection System. The entire renovation work took three years to complete. The present seating capacity of the auditorium is 308.

The newly renovated Mehra Auditorium was made fully operational on 01 Jan 2021, when the first Guest Lecture by the distinguished speaker, Shri SS Sohoni, IAS (Retd), formerly Secretary to President of India and Sr Advisor to Govt of Afghanistan, was conducted with aplomb.
The Auditorium continues to be a venue for all central functions, guest lectures and other academic activities.
